Throughout the rest of the 90's Royal Enfield experience difficulties in business and in result, had to shut down manufacturing in their primary factory, located in Jaipur, in 2002. They ultimately merged with the group in 1994. In 1990, they collaborated with an automotive company, the Eicher Group, to expand their brand. All of the bikes built and components manufactured for Royal Enfield, were done solely in India at this point. The Royal Enfield Bullet was chosen as the best vehicle for the job. The company began by producing motorcycles suitable for law enforcement and army in India, specifically to patrol the border of the country. They created and produced the Royal Enfield Bullet which is the longest-lived motorcycle model to date. Royal Enfield is an Indian manufacturing brand, and in 1901, their first motorcycle was built.
